Sacroiliac pain, commonly referred to as SI joint pain is a common area of symptom for may people. It is the area just below the lower back and above the buttocks, where the ‘dimples’ are. It is common to have pain on one side or the other, and can sometimes switch sides throughout the course of a flare-up. However, the SI joint is rarely the real issue and is commonly blamed for pain in this area. There are plenty of other structures that can send, or refer, pain to this region.
It is important to have this assessed by a physical therapist, as most self-diagnoses and treatment plans will not be as effective at treating this symptom. The physical therapists at Infinite Potential have a over 15 years of collective experience in treating SI pain.
